Classification of Industrial Lubricants and Key Points for Equipment Selection

Industrial lubricants are classified based on base oils as mineral oil, synthetic oil, and semi-synthetic oil. They isolate friction pairs through oil films, achieving four functions: lubrication, cooling, rust prevention, and sealing. According to usage scenarios, they can be categorized as mechanical oil, gear oil, hydraulic oil, and compressor oil, etc.

Equipment selection is centered on the working conditions: high-speed heavy-duty gears use high-viscosity extreme pressure gear oil; hydraulic systems prefer anti-wear hydraulic oil; high-temperature kilns and high-speed equipment are suitable for synthetic lubricants. In humid environmental conditions, rust-resistant formula oil products are selected; for low-temperature outdoor equipment, low pour point lubricants are used. Blindly mixing different grades of oil products can easily cause additive failure and sludge formation. Precise selection can extend the service life of components and reduce abnormal wear.
